Explore Britain’s oldest organisation with an expert host, bringing to life some of the oldest and rarest artefacts attributed to The Royal Mint.

Included in their ticket, under 16s will receive a bespoke activity book to keep and enjoy during their visit.

Please note, a Guided Exhibition Tour will not take you into the Circulating Coin Factory, please keep an eye on our website and social media for news the exciting re-launch of The Royal Mint Experience.

*The Strike Your Own Coin opportunity is only available during a Guided Exhibition Tour at the additional cost of £7.50 per coin. This opportunity is bookable on arrival at The Royal Mint Experience.

Important information:

• Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. 
• Each guest will need their own ticket; please book one ticket per person.
• Due to reduced capacity on our Guided Exhibition Tours, we are not able to offer carer, conscession or student discount on this tour. We will always endeavour to offer discounts on our tours and events when possible, please keep an eye on future tour and event offerings for these discounts. 
• Please let us know at the point of booking if you have accessibility requirements.
• A Guided Exhibition Tour will not take you to see circulating coin being produced. Please check back in the spring for the launch of our refreshed tours.

Tour Admission TIckets 

Discover over 1,100 years of British History and the fascinating processes of coin making at The Royal Mint Experience, located in South Wales, just off the M4. 

Since opening in 2016, The Royal Mint Experience has quickly become one of the must-do attractions in South Wales. From award winning tours and exhibitions to extraoardinary events, this is an experience curious minds of all ages can enjoy. 

Please allow 60 minutes for your tour. After the tour, you can explore our exhibition at your own pace and enjoy winding down in our on-site cafe. We usually recommend allowing 2 hours for the whole experience. 

What's on the tour? 

During your tour, your friendly and engaging tour guide will offer more information about: 

• The rich history of The Royal Mint: From London to Llantrisant, The Royal Mint has been the original maker of coins for the monarchy since Alfred the Great in the 880s!
• Circulating coins: Discover how we make coins for the United Kingdom, from design through to production. Your guide will show you some of the equipment and tools used during this fascinating process and explain how it all works. 
• Commemorative coins:  View our display of commemorative coins as your host explains the difference between coins struck for circulation and the commemorative editions we make to celebrate special anniversaries, famous figures and national events. You'll even have the option to strike your own coin
• Pioneering Projects: The Royal Mint don't just make coins for the nation! From medals to medical visors, The Royal Mint have adapted over the years to meet changing societal needs. 

Please note, on occasions when the Circulating Coin Factory is not in operation; guests have the unique opportunity to step onto the factory floor and come face to face with the state-of-the-art machines that make every circulating coin for the UK.

Toilet facilities are available before and after the tour, but not during the tour in factory areas. We encourage all guests to make use of the facilities before their tour departs. 

Strike Your Own Coin 

To add an extra-special moment to your visit, you can ‘Strike Your Own Coin’ whilst on tour, a unique offering available only at The Royal Mint Experience. The coin design you can strike changes regularly, reflecting a current theme, event or anniversary. 

This is an optional experience that can be added at the additional cost of £7.50 per coin struck. No pre-booking is required to Strike Your Own Coin, the team will ask on arrival if this is something you would like to do during your tour.

• Please allow 60 minutes for this tour
• Our exhibition is self guided and you can enjoy at your own pace. 
• The use of cameras and recording equiptment are prohibited duering your tour. Please follow your guide's instructions and ask if unsure. 
• Toilet facilities are available before and after the tour, but not during the tour in factory areas. We encourage all guests to make use of the facilities before their tour departs. 
• Please let your tour guide know if there is anything they can do to make your visit more comfortable, we'll be happy to help!

Our exhibition is self-lead for you to enjoy at your own leisure. 

With this ticket option, you are welcome to arrive at a time of your choice between 10am and 3:15pm. 

This ticket allows entry only into our exhibition. The guided factory experience and 'strike your own coin' are not available with this ticket.

Please note, our exhibition closes at 4:15pm daily.
